Movie Posters

Movie posters are an integral part of the entertainment community. Found in movie theaters, on billboards, and online, movie posters are advertisements and attention grabbing forms of media.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR 2001: SPACE ODYSSEY!
I redesigned a movie poster, 2001: Space Odyssey to include 3 of the important factors of the movie, or at least the most memorable parts of the movie.
I used black, white, and red as the primary colors (with a faded Earth in the back). Black for space and emptiness, white for the clinical nature of the 3rd part of the movie, HAL and the spacesuits, and red for the blood and raw nature of the story, and of course HAL's structure.

The 3 things I combined in the poster was the Star Child (the fetus), the Earth, and the red glow of the sun, HAL's glass, and of Jupiter. I really tried to show the 3 stages of the movie.

We compared our posters to Saul Bass, a designer that focuses in minimalism.

Minimalism uses the bare ideas from the movies or shows or theme it represents in order to tell a story.  I am not very good at minimalism, because empty space annoys me a bit, but I did try.

I love movie posters, especially when they tell a story.
